Our production story

About Us

In 1972, we took our first steps in the business world with the trading of raw leather in Hakkari-Yüksekova. In 1988, we established a processed Zig Leather Sales center in Izmir-Yeşildere, and in 1994, we set up a state-of-the-art small ruminant leather (for clothing) production facility in the city of Uşak. In 2002, we established a sewing workshop in Istanbul-Zeytinburnu, enabling us to reach end-users directly and further develop our expertise in line with our industry.
In 2022, based on our experience, we founded DEMAKS TEXTILE and continue our operations in the regenerated yarn sector.

Regenerated Yarn

What is Regenerated Yarn?

Textile waste, including cotton, viscose, polyester, and other fiber-containing waste in the form of yarn scraps, thread pieces, and fabric clippings, is collected. Afterwards, these waste materials are recycled using a mechanical recycling method in our facility. In this method, textile waste is classified based on their colors and raw material content and then cut into small pieces. Finally, these pieces are transformed into fibers using opening machines equipped with fiber-opening wires, a process known as "shredding."

How is Regenerated Yarn Produced?

Due to the lack of homogeneous raw material type and the presence of a high proportion of short fibers, the fibers obtained from textile waste are transformed into yarn using an open-end spinning system. They are mixed with carrier fibers that provide strength and facilitate the movement of the fibers. These carrier fibers can be made of materials such as cotton, viscose, polyester, and acrylic. The resulting yarn is referred to as "Regenerated Yarn" or "Recycled Yarn" in the industry.

How is Regenerated Yarn Classified?

For the production of regenerated yarn, it is important to carefully select and separate textile waste on-site based on their colors and raw material content. After being transformed into fibers, it is crucial to mix them with the appropriate amount and characteristics of original carrier fibers and ensure standard yarn production through suitable machine settings. Thanks to the production standardization and quality control system, regenerated yarns with competitive quality features, environmentally friendly characteristics, and certifications for recycling and ecology are produced from original fibers.

Regenerated Yarn and Its Environmental Relationship

In this production method, textile waste is economically utilized without causing harm to the environment. Colored yarns containing cotton are obtained without using soil, tractors, water, chemicals, or dyes. The use of recycled yarn encourages the recycling of textile waste, which is considered to have zero value economically. As a result, agricultural lands are preserved, energy consumption is reduced, and chemical processes and their harmful effects are minimized.
